Job Description


The company requires and individual that can fit the dual role for being a buildings on the road assessor as well as buildings auditor in Gauteng to form part of our unique team.

Core to the role is contributing to:

  • Validation of claims compared to the various insurance policies

  • Quantification and cost management in determining the scope of work compared to agreed rates on buildings related claims

  • The improvement of service provider workmanship through various audits performed on repairs completed by buildings service providers.

  • Claims cost control by testing for the adherence to agreed rates by service providers through performing cost audits.

The types of claims dealt with include any building related claims such as burst geysers & pipes with resultant damage, storm damage to properties, flooring, interior cosmetic repairs to properties, electrical work etc. The role requires an individual with strong technical knowledge of the buildings industry and the associated cost and workmanship variables.

Responsibilities

Assessing:

  • Daily travelling and assessing of claims;

  • Validation of claims according to the various insurance policies in place;

  • Quantification by drafting a scope of work and finalizing the cost of the claim according to agreed rates;

  • Managing the cost from the start of the claim until the claim is finalized within the set parameters and agreed scope of work;

  • Doing a risk assessment to confirm if there are any current or future risks that should be considered;

  • Compiling a mobile assessment report that includes a scope of work and full report on site meetings and discussions with clients;

  • Handling and resolving complaints and queries from clients, internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders such as builders, engineers etc.

Auditing:

  • Quantification and measurement of areas and items repaired/replaced by service providers;

  • Assessment of the quality of workmanship of repairs effected by service providers;

  • Compiling detailed cost analysis according to the OUTsurance Buildings Rates Documents and comparing that to the costing of service providers;

  • Professional report writing as a mechanism to provide feedback to service providers on the outcome of an audit;

  • Regular site meeting with clients and service providers;

  • Engagement with various stakeholders both internal and external;

  • Handling and resolving queries and from service providers and clients in relation to audits;


Qualifications


Qualifications

  • Matric;

  • A tertiary qualification or significant progress towards obtaining any construction or built environment related qualification would be highly beneficial.

  • Technical buildings and construction experience;

  • Computer literacy is essential with MS Excel and MS Word being core competencies;

  • Successful candidate must be based in Gauteng or willing to relocate at own cost after initial training is completed in Centurion.

  • Travelling to other regional areas of South Africa might be required to ensure appropriate coverage from an assessing or auditing perspective. The candidate must be willing to travel extensively throughout the country.
