Candidate Responsibilities will include:
Maintain excellent knowledge of third party SARS reporting requirements and processes.
Maintain up to date technical knowledge of relevant third party reporting sections of the Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act.
Address tax queries accurately and timeously in the following manner:
Classify the query as administrative, technical or systems and obtain further information where required;
Discuss systems and technical queries with relevant team members to determine appropriate response and/or action;
Draft response by identifying and describing the problem and address concern by responding with a practical and effective solution within 24 hours (or 3 hours in case of emergency);
Have response reviewed by relevant Group Tax team member within 24 hours (or 1 hour in case of emergency);
Send response to business within above timelines.
Submit weekly reports on all tax queries for that week. All queries received up to 5pm on Thursday must be cleared by 5pm on Friday.
All files are received within the timelines given to business. A report of all files not received on the relevant due date must be given through to the manager on that day;
All files received must be reviewed for the following:
All totals on the relevant systems per the process document must match;
All errors need to be listed as well as the nature of the error and suggested corrective action;
Error report must be discussed with Focus group BA and the BA must sign off on the error report and suggested corrective action;
All files must be reviewed and error reports drafted and reviewed within the relevant timelines;
Error reports to be sent to business for corrective action;
Follow-up with business in having these errors addressed ad reviewed within the relevant timelines;
Escalate all deadlines not adhered to in that day.
Identify tax risks that could impact the company direct and / or indirect and escalate accordingly.
Provide support for system / process and or reporting queries from the different business units.
Investigate and identify requirements to address process or system constraints resulting in repeated queries and or errors.
Play an active part in developing and updating process documentation for internal staff by working with Business Analysts.
Work actively with the Tax Specialist to clarify technical rules and regulations published for a smooth implementation in Business.
Assist in monitoring the ongoing operational compliance with tax legislation and tax submission/return/payment deadlines.
Quality review of all tax communication/certificates pre distribution to client/market by identifying and classifying all errors.
Candidate Minimum Requirements:
BComm degree (with tax modules)
At least 5 years' experience within a corporate environment on client/third party reporting
Previous experience and tax knowledge in the financial services sector would be advantageous
Decent understanding of Easy File and E-Filing SARS systems as well as processes
Excellent knowledge of third party SARS reporting requirements and processes
Sound knowledge of the relevant sections of the Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act pertaining to third party reporting
Sound Excel skills
